Manifesto

Whoever you are, whatever you do, we are here for each other.
The least we expect is respect. We hope for the best in everything.

You are one, I am one, and together we are glorious children.
Bless the suffering, restore the planet, save the wildlife.
Give thanks and praise to the most high.

Biography

Gloria Jean Schaefer was born in 1979 and grew up in Geneva, New York. Since childhood, Gloria also goes by the nickname, Glo. As a child, her mother guided her studies in violin with the Suzuki program.

In 1997, she graduated from Geneva High School with a New York State Regents Diploma with High Honor. From fourth to twelfth grade, Gloria played clarinet with the school concert and marching band as well as studied privately and played with other ensembles. She dabbled at sports including cross-country running, soccer, and lacrosse. One of her main interests was art.

Following primary and secondary education, Gloria matriculated to Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and graduated with High Honor in May of 2001 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and Associates in Illustration.

During her senior year at RIT, Gloria cooperatively interned at the National Center for Remanufacturing and Resource Recovery as a graphic designer. She was elected as president of the student chapter at RIT of the American Institute of Graphic Arts during her senior year. The Rochester Advertising Federation awarded her for student editorial design (spring, 2001) for a layout designed in collaboration with a photographer.

After receiving an undergraduate degree, Gloria freelanced as a graphic artist as well as worked in various customer service positions. In 2002, she joined Americorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) and worked with a non-profit organization in Juneau, Alaska and with the City of Rochester, Department of Parks and Recreation, in New York.

From 2004 to 2005, Gloria attended Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage, became licensed by the State of New York, and certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Body Work.

In 2006, Gloria gained experience as a graphic artist in a few different jobs in Baltimore, Maryland. To be near friends and family, she returned to Rochester and became employed part time at a spa as a massage therapist, (from March to September 2007), and full time as a graphic designer for a corporation, (from May to December 2007).

Currently, Gloria practices massage therapy since January 2008, works part time as a clerk in library circulation since March 2008, and freelances in graphic design. Her hobbies include modeling for artistic photography and making personal art work. She enjoys biking, jogging, music, movies, and dancing.

Massage Therapy Practice

New York State Licensed (LMT)
Certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Body Work (NCBTMB)

Gloria begins with an energetic introduction similar to Reiki or Polarity, followed by rocking, then a fluid, primarily Swedish-style routine, incorporating sensitive, Shiatsu-style compression, as well as limited, deep-tissue, spot work for the release of trigger-points and tension. Her intention is to promote relaxation and conditioning for a client base of healthy individuals, in harmony with other healing modalities. Her technique has developed while exploring different settings, including several months at a salon and spa. Currently, she is cultivating a niche with her own special touch.
